Spanish Workshops
These workshops are designed to focus on one or more areas in which you would like to improve your Spanish. The scheduling of workshops, like all of our classes, is flexible, and will be made according to your scheduling needs. E-mail us to check availability or to reserve your class: info@interhispanica.com.ar
We offer three main workshop areas - Spanish Conversation, Writing in Spanish, and Spanish Grammar. D etails about these workshops are given below. If you like, it's possible to combine the subject areas of one or more of the workshops. It's also possible to combine the workshops with other classes. We actually recommend this, so that you can more fully develop your Spanish capabilities.
Because workshops are designed so as to meet each individual student's particular needs, most students schedule the workshop an individual class, sometimes immediately following their regular Spanish class. It is, however, possible to form a small-group workshop, as long as there are at least 2 students who share your specific learning needs during the time you are here. Workshops are available at all levels, beginner to advanced.
. Spanish Conversation Workshops
All of our regular Spanish Classes are designed to give you practice expressing yourself orally in Spanish. These workshops are designed to help you address this goal in greater depth. Emphasis is placed on developing a richer vocabulary, a more advanced capability in comprehension and oral production, and a better command of idiomatic expressions.
The content of the workshop is tailor-made, according to your level and interests. An idea of some of the areas we cover include:
A) General Conversation is a conversation workshop which does not have a specific thematic focus, but instead is focused on developing the oral abilities of the student in various aspects of Spanish conversation.
B) - Basic Elements for Tourists is a workshop for students with a beginner or low-intermediate level of Spanish who plan to travel in one or more Spanish-speaking countries. Course content includes all of the traveler's basics - how to ask directions, how to buy tickets, how to reserve a hotel room, etc. - as well as the basic vocabulary and expressions which students might find useful in conversing with the people they meet in their travels. The aim of the workshop is to develop, within a short period of time, the students' ability to express themselves in such situations, so that they are better prepared to make the most of their travels.
C) Work-related Conversation Skills. Topics addressed in such a course are entirely dependent on the student and his or her professional needs. In the past we have conducted workshops in the areas of Medical Spanish, Legal Spanish, Spanish for Engineers or Technical Workers and Social-Work Spanish, but it's possible to design a workshop for other professions as well. In these workshops we first introduce you to the specialized vocabulary which you will need in your job. We then use various role-playing techniques to help you practice, in a controlled setting, various situations which you might face in your professional life.
C)- Business Spanish The focus in such a workshop is on developing your language skills so as to be able to communicate effectively in a business environment. Students will be familiarized with basic terminology related to economics, marketing and business administration, with a special emphasis on the vocabulary specifically related to his or her field. Role-playing is extensively used in this course.
D)- Academic Expression is for students, teachers or university professors who need to be able to express themselves orally in an academic setting.
F) - Slang and Popular Modes of Expression is a workshop which helps students learn to understand, and use, slang and popular idiomatic expressions. Special attention is paid to when such modes of expression are, or are not, appropriate for the student to use.
. Spanish Grammar Workshop
This workshop is designed to reinforce and improve your written and verbal production of grammatical structures. The instruction in this workshop will begin with an examination to determine what points of grammar you need the most work on. We then review those points of grammar which you have already learned, paying special attention to those grammatical constructs you still may not be most sure of. We then move on to those points of grammar which you are lacking and progress through them systematically, according to your level and needs.
. Writing Workshop
There are two types of writing workshops which we teach, the first for writing correspondence - formal and informal letters, e-mails and postcards - and the second for writing and composing papers on academic subjects. Students who choose the first workshop option typically need to be able to write in Spanish for personal or career reasons; students who choose the second typically do so because they are pursuing academic studies in Spanish at a university level .
